DAYBREAK V.6: The In-Between

$40.00

Daybreak Magazine’s 6th book dives into the changing tides and seasons of life. The transition periods—the “in between” times—always tends to be a mixture of daunting, uncomfortable, and eye-opening. Across the Midwest, mountain states, and all the way to the coasts, DAYBREAK V.6 visits with creators of all sorts who are navigating these seasons and tides.

In the spring of ’24, Annabel and Ella got to spend a full, and perfect day with our dear friend Tommy Moore, the dude behind DAYBREAK. Tommy is the kind of person that in your first moments together you settle into comfort; you can sink in to safety – no small talk, just real human connection. Tommy asked the hard questions, the meaningful ones, and listened intently as he gently helped us crack wide open.

It is an honor and a joy to be featured amidst these pages in the company of so many leaders and legends. And an honor to share this story with you; a vulnerable one that we hope can resonate with you. Let’s dive on in – you never regret a swim.

DAYBREAK Magazine is a print publication and media co. celebrating creatives in the outdoors.

DAYBREAK is creator owned and operated. We are a small, independent team putting creators and the outdoors above everything else.

An artist’s relationship with the outdoors is so often overlooked, and is so often the driving force behind their creative mentality. Whether a photographer or painter, surf board shaper or athlete, or writer or musician, we dive deeper into this relationship to uncover the individuality and personality behind everyone’s creative processes.

To date, DAYBREAK has released 6 books accounting for over 1,250 pages of created and curated work. Over the 120+ stories we’ve published, we’ve touched on subjects ranging from artists and designers who blend traditional iconology with their cultural roots, musicians who’s healing and creative journeys rely on the empty lands around them, surfers and athletes re-imagining what it looks like to be a professional in their field, to photographers who find simplicity in the complex landscapes of mountains and oceans, as well as silence in chaotic cityscapes.

There’s a shared essence between the grit of creatives and the grit of the pages of print media. As one of our favorite creatives, Andrew James Peters, said to us, “Magazines smell so much better than the internet.” Art is not meant to be mindlessly looked at on a screen for half a second and forgotten about. Art is meant to be digested, to be felt—physically and emotionally, and to live a life longer than a single moment. DAYBREAK started as a way to show our work beside the works of creatives we respect on the coffee tables of our loved ones. Since then a lot has changed, but that initial idea is still present. Our hope is that the stories we share and the books we create are as relevant and capturing to generations down the road as they are to someone flipping through them today.
